Frequently Asked Questions

What is the main objective of the QualiFam Protocol?

While there is no “cure” for autism, the QualiFam Protocol has been proven to significantly and rapidly enhance the quality of life for individuals diagnosed with autism, positively impacting the well-being of their entire family.

Are you diagnosing my child with Autism?

No, only licensed professionals—such as developmental pediatricians, child psychologists, child psychiatrists, or neurologists—can formally diagnose autism. Our role is to utilize advanced diagnostic techniques to uncover evidence of underlying conditions, such as infections, inflammation, or immune dysregulation, which are commonly found in autistic children. Based on these findings, we will recommend a targeted plan to address these specific issues.

What if my child’s test results don’t show the underlying conditions the Protocol is designed to address?

While most children do test positive for the underlying conditions targeted by the Protocol, if your child’s results do not, they may not benefit from this specific approach. Our priority is ensuring every child receives the care that best fits their needs. If the Protocol isn’t a match, we will guide you toward alternative resources or strategies that may be better suited for your child’s unique situation.

How quickly can we get started?

Your child could begin treatment within a week or two. Here’s what to do:

To get started, please click the “Get Started” button to schedule a discovery call. During this call, you’ll learn more about the QualiFam Protocol, and we’ll take the time to learn about your child to provide tailored insights on how our Protocol can help them.

How long does it take before we will begin to see results with the QualiFam Protocol?

Results often depend on the child’s age, with younger children typically responding more quickly. Some symptoms may begin to improve within weeks, while others may take a few months. However, nearly all children show noticeable progress within three months and significant improvement within three to six months.

When is A child too young to gain the benefits of the Protocol?

If our blood tests reveal one or more underlying conditions associated with autism, we strongly recommend starting treatment immediately, regardless of your child’s age. With the QualiFam Protocol, no child is ever too young to begin receiving effective care.

When is it too late to gain the benefits of the Protocol?

It’s never too late. However, the earlier we start, the better the outcomes tend to be. For the most rapid and effective results, we recommend beginning treatment before puberty, if possible.

How does the QualiFam Protocol differ from other treatments?

The majority of treatments focus solely on the symptoms of autism, with a particular
focus on behavioral therapy. However, the QualiFam Protocol diagnoses the root
causes of the symptoms of autism. Once the causes are identified, our Protocol
provides recommendations that lead to rapid improvements.

Does the Protocol replace ABA therapy?

Absolutely not. The QualiFam Protocol is a biomedical approach, whereas ABA therapy
is strictly behavioral based, and they can be employed simultaneously. In fact, our
Protocol has been shown to actually enhance and accelerate the results of ABA
therapy.

Can’t we just use the supplements that are being advertised on the web for our child?

You could, but you can’t get the results that our over 10 years of research tells us are
attainable with a multipronged approach. Additionally, without taking our blood test, you
will not know if your child has underlying conditions such as infection, inflammation, and
immune dysregulation that need to be treated with pharmaceuticals together with our
targeted supplements. And, your child may currently be taking supplements that could
be counterproductive—something we will ask about before recommending a treatment
plan.
Please remember, the longer our treatment is put off, the more difficult it will be to
rapidly and fully optimize the results.
You should also know that the supplements that we will provide you, at no additional
cost, are personalized based on years of research and clinical results. They are
specifically formulated for your child in order to address the particular issues that were
discovered in the blood test.

Are there any major side effects associated with the treatments?

We are not aware of any side effects beyond some mild GI issues in a small percentage
of children that quickly resolve themselves. But if you notice something that causes you
to be concerned, please contact your child’s physician as quickly as possible, in addition
to contacting QualiFam.

How is the personalized treatment plan developed for each child?

The QualiFam Protocol is personalized from Day 1—and revised throughout the time
we work together. We have a lot of experience from treating over 1,000 children, so we
know where to start once we review your child’s Questionnaire and Blood Test. The
Protocol is revised based on updated Questionnaires and Blood Tests which are
submitted on a quarterly basis. The Protocol is certainly not a one size fits all approach.

What kind of support is available for families during the treatment process?

QualiFam will be with you every step of the way. Initially, you will be educated about our
approach. We will be available to discuss issues and how to optimize improvements
over the long term. As we learn more about your child, we will share more tools for you
to utilize. This is a partnership that we take very seriously.

Can I speak to a QualiFam representative?

Absolutely. QualiFam will be available for consultation throughout the time that we are
working together. For starters, once you have submitted the Questionnaire that
describes your child’s symptoms, we will schedule a call for you with a QualiFam
representative. Then, once we have received the results of the blood test, we will
schedule another call with you to discuss the treatment that we recommend.

How are infections linked to autism?

The connection between viral infections and autism have been confirmed in numerous studies. Studies show that many of the infections that Qualifam has identified and tests for can cause a disruption in brain development. Autistic children can  carry these infections and inflammations for many years , which disrupts normal brain development.

Viral infections induce neuroinflammation that affects many neurological processes, including neural development, brain structures, synapse plasticity, cognition, and behavior.

Viruses can weaken the immune system and cause inflammation in the brain, potentially leading to neurological issues.

The Qualifam Protocol targets these infections with antiviral treatments to help manage autism symptoms more effectively.

What role does inflammation play in autism?

Inflammation is a significant factor in autism affecting areas of the brain such as the cerebellum, which can lead to symptoms such as motor control difficulties and social skill challenges. The Protocol addresses inflammation with specific treatments aimed at reducing these effects.

How do the gut-brain axis and the microbiome relate to autism?

The gut-brain axis refers to the complex and bidirectional communication network between the gastrointestinal (GI) system (the “gut”) and the brain.

This system involves multiple pathways, including neural, hormonal, and immune signaling, which allow the gut and brain to influence each other. While the connection between the gut-brain axis and autism is complex, disruptions in gut health and the composition of the microbiome contribute to the development or severity of autism symptoms.

The gut microbiome also plays a pivotal role in regulating immune function and maintaining overall health. In autistic children, “dysbiosis” (an imbalance in gut bacteria) has been widely observed and is closely linked to both gastrointestinal and neurological symptoms.

This is why the Protocol focuses on the microbiome as a big part of our methodology, addressed through supplements and diet.

How important is diet?
Diet is very important! We will provide dietary recommendations as part of the Protocol.
Because we know that your child may be a picky eater, we will also suggest  several alternatives for you. Additionally, we are developing a line of foods and
beverages that can be substituted for the foods that autistic children crave, but which can exacerbate autism symptoms.
Are there treatments that target inflammation in autism?

Yes, anti-inflammatory treatments and dietary changes, such as introducing probiotics, may help manage symptoms by reducing inflammation. The Qualifam Protocol uses a combination of dietary adjustments and therapeutic interventions to target inflammation effectively.

What does it cost to join the QualiFam Protocol

The initial blood test costs less than $500 and is paid directly to the laboratory. Depending on your insurance coverage, a portion or all of this cost may be reimbursed by your provider. Thereafter, there will be quarterly blood tests that will cost less and less each quarter as underlying causes are resolved. The cost of the blood tests and pharmaceuticals should be submitted to your insurance carrier, although please be advised that the reimbursement policy will vary based on your insurance carrier and the terms of your policy.

Once you have reviewed the results of the blood test with one of our medical professionals, if you want to commence the QualiFam Protocol, then you will pay QualiFam (i) a $750 set-up cost and (ii) a monthly fee of $750. This monthly fee covers all supplements plus periodic consultations . In addition, we require quarterly blood tests to track progress and make adjustments in treatment. The only other potential out of pocket costs, at your election, would be purchasing beneficial foods and beverages which QualiFam is currently developing.

Does the QualiFam Protocol help save money for parents of autistic children?

The Protocol offers significant cost savings by reducing or even eliminating the need for
traditional therapies such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and social skills
training. As you know, these therapies can be very expensive, often requiring multiple
sessions per week, which can add up to thousands of dollars annually. By addressing
the root causes of autism symptoms through a comprehensive approach that targets
infections and inflammation, the Protocol minimizes the need for these ongoing
expenses. Additionally, early intervention with the QualiFam Protocol can prevent the
escalation of symptoms, reducing future healthcare costs and the necessity for intensive
support services. This approach not only provides immediate financial relief but also
offers long-term savings, making it a cost-effective solution for managing autism.
