Summary of The Protocol

The QualiFam Protocol addresses the root causes of autism with scientific, research-driven methods. It is a multifaceted methodology that utilizes biomedical, nutritional, and microbiome-targeted strategies. Because autism presents so many challenges, a holistic approach to personalized treatment is important. This includes:

Reducing inflammation

with anti-inflammatory treatments

Managing infections

that may worsen symptoms

Supporting the immune system

to prevent further problems

Improving gut health

which can help improve overall brain function
The Protocol provides a world of opportunity and should be started as early in life as possible.

The underlying viruses, infections, inflammation and immune system dysregulation can be very effectively addressed with three primary modalities:

01.

Pharmaceuticals

Based on the results of the blood test, QualiFam will recommend a course of generic antivirals, antibacterials, and/ or antifungals and perhaps others, to target chronic and latent infections or inflammation.

As an example, to discover potential problems, we test for two types of antibodies. Although it was thought that one of them indicates past infections, we now know that it may demonstrate the presence of latent/chronic infection (which may reactivate from time to time), while the other antibodies show current or recent acute infection

It has been shown that the level of these antibodies can indicate the severity of the cognitive decline in people whose chronic viral infections affect brain function. Thus, the QualiFam Protocol focuses on disrupting the links of this vicious circle: inhibition of infection, recovery of the immune system, decrease of inflammation, and restoration of the gastrointestinal tract.

02.

Supplements

QualiFam will provide, free of charge, proprietary supplements that are specifically designed to provide autoimmune, inflammatory, gastrointestinal, and metabolic support. The supplements can help establish healthy microbiota, treat metabolic and endocrine abnormalities, and suppress infectious agents in the subject’s body.

The supplements will be not be provided all at once, but in succession pursuant to an individualized plan, which will be adjusted periodically based on additional blood tests together with the progress demonstrated in subsequent blood tests and questionnaires.

The formulation of supplements that are available include:

Autoimmune and Inflammatory Support
Suppression of low-grade inflammation and reactive molecules
Gastrointestinal Health and Mucosal Immunity Support

“Recovery” of normal mucosa and mucosal immunity

Gastrointestinal and General Health Probiotics
Establishment of healthy microbiota and immunity restoration
Metabolic and Endocrine Health Support
Treatment and modulation of metabolic and endocrine abnormalities
Neurogenesis Support
Restoration of normal neural functions and enhancement of neurogenesis
Mood and Anxiety Support
Recovery and “fine-tuning” of emotional and cognitive spheres
Probiotics
Especially important after the use of antibiotics, if necessary.

03.

Diet

Children with autism are typically highly selective eaters, with restricted diets and preferences for specific foods and/or textures.  As we all know,  sugar can affect behavior, focus and social interactions, but is often craved by autistic children.

To maximize the benefits of the Protocol, we will provide personalized recommendations for foods and beverages that can be substituted for those that autistic child crave, but can negatively affect them. There will also be recommendations related to allergies that were uncovered in the Blood Test and that  certain foods that  exacerbate  symptoms should be avoided.

Examples of dietary recommendations include:

  • Avoid: Sugar, certain dairy products, and seed oils.
  • Minimize: Carbohydrates, which the body breaks down into sugar
  • Maximize: Protein

One more aspect of the Protocol needs to be addressed, the gut-brain axis which is how  our “gut” and our brain influence each other. While the connection between the gut-brain axis and autism is complex, suffice to say that disruptions in gut health can contribute to the development or severity of the  symptoms of autism.
